"The Castle Hotel was the principal landmark building along Flora Terrace from the very early days. It still evokes both fond and not so fond memories. Jack McEvoy's SP betting shop, opposite the Castle Hotel on Flora Terrace, attracted much business - he also had a deli. In later years, I remember the TAB operating at the Castle Hotel, very popular with local tradies, and the always popular beer garden facing the sea - now a lost lifestyle off Flora Terrace, where you could once relax with friends over a drink overlooking the coast."
