Alf Waterman and Ern Witney at the beach near Zephyr Villa

Alfred Waterman bought land and a fishing shack at Lot 10, the corner of what is now West Coast Highway and Mary Street, Watermans Bay, to use for beach holidays. While continuing to reside in Victoria Park, he built a limestone beach cottage on the site and named it Zephyr Villa after Zephyrus, Greek god of the western winds.
