Martha Bond

Martha, her husband George, and their nine children, arrived in Fremantle on 27 December 1910. They had travelled from England on the SS Armadale.

After they arrived, they first stayed at a hostel located near the Horseshoe Bridge in Perth, which was established for newly arrived immigrants. They soon acquired a house in Leederville on the corner of Thomas and Collin Streets, where they lived for two years.

The family then bought 5 acres of land at Osborne Park on the corner of Curtis and Main Streets. The family first lived on it in a shed while a house was built on the property.
