This 96-hectare reserve is an A-Class Reserve with significant heritage importance. Star Swamp Bushland Reserve has a rich history dating back to the mid-19th century. The area was originally part of a dairy and cattle lease held by J. H. Okely of Wanneroo. The name "Star Swamp" first appeared on a lease application in 1868. During the early 1900s, the area was used as a camping and watering place for drovers using the Coastal Stock Route. It also served as a station for the Australian Army's 10th Light Horse Division during World War II.
Description
Star Swamp Bushland Reserve is a beautiful natural area located in North Beach, Western Australia, just a short distance from Watermans Bay. In the 1970s, local residents campaigned to prevent the area from being developed for housing. And in 1985, Star Swamp was designated as an A-Class Reserve. The reserve now serves as a conservation area, providing a habitat for various species of flora and fauna.
